TEAM UP TO LAUNCH ANTI-BULLYING SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM
College Scholarship Funds Available For Students Around The World
Atlanta, G.A., October 1, 2013 – The National Society of High School Scholars Foundation (NSHSS FdN), a 501c3 non-profit charity founded by Claes Nobel, senior member of the esteemed Nobel family, today announced a partnership with Abercrombie & Fitch to establish an ongoing scholarship program designed for students who academically persevered while experiencing bullying, and for those students who have led anti-bullying efforts in their schools and communities. This scholarship program is part of Abercrombie & Fitch’s Anti-Bullying Scholarship Award program.
The NSHSS FdN is an organization dedicated to supporting education in the form of scholarships for underrepresented students in STEM career majors, as well as business, economics and public policy.
“We’re proud to offer college tuition assistance to individuals who have been victims of bullying behavior, yet who found ways to achieve academic success in the face of these obstacles, and to those who have advanced the anti-bullying cause on a local basis,” said Todd Corley, Abercrombie & Fitch’s Senior Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion.
To apply for this scholarship, students are required to submit a personal response of up to 500 words answering one of two questions: How have you helped promote anti-bullying awareness in your school or community? Share your own story about the experience of being bullied and how you have persevered and overcome the consequences and negative effects of such treatment. Students must also include their transcript; provide a recommendation from an educator; and include a resume of honors and awards, leadership activities, community service activities, extra-curricular activities, internships and employment history. Students eligible to apply for this scholarship need to be high school seniors graduating in 2014 with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Scholarship funds, in the amount of $1,000 per award, will be sent to the university where the student enrolls and can be used toward tuition, books, room and board or other college-related expenses. The scholarships are renewable for up to three years following the scholarship winner’s freshman year depending on the student’s academic progress and continuing in full-time student status.
