Santhija Jegatheeswaran is a graduate from Milliken Mills High School and has earned her International Baccalaureate diploma. She will be attending the University of Toronto for Life Sciences. Within the school community, she founded the Purple Project, an organization that aims to educate and involve students in the fight for gender equality. Recognizing the growing need for food around the holiday season, the Purple Project organized donation drives and fundraisers for charities such as the Yellow Brick House to help support their services for victims of domestic violence. As a graduating student, she has received the Humanitarian Award, an award selected by the school staff to a graduate who shows respect for all, appreciates the cultural mosaic of the school community, helps others and shows concern for the environment and the Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, reading entire books in one sitting, and working on her graphic design skills.
