Following a bullying incident in her school, Samantha set out to “ignite a social metamorphosis.” She began “Don’t Be Mean, Intervene” to combat bullying and increase instances of kindness and compassion. The Kindness Board encouraged students to treat one another with courtesy, share positivity on social media, and assist those unable to help themselves. Samantha runs an Instagram account, @DontBeMeanIntervene, to publicize stories of kindness. She has also created a short film entitled, “Behind Closed Doors,” that dissects the dual identity of students tackling academics in school and familial issues in the home. Samantha is a Girls State Delegate, the vice president of DECA, president of Mu Alpha Theta, and she is Miss Socastee High School 2015.
