Luna AbadÃa is a trilingual, globally-minded climate activist and youth leader. She is dedicated to using her language skills, international experience, and focus on diversity and equity to make tangible change to address the climate crisis.
Luna's most significant achievement is founding the Effective Climate Action Project, a youth-led organization advocating for systemic climate solutions. Her interactive workshops are engaging hundreds worldwide. This October, Luna attended the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth in Scotland as an official US Delegate and Facilitator.
She is pursuing the International Baccalaureate Diploma and is in her 12th year of the Spanish Immersion Program. Luna spent a year abroad in Japan as a Rotary Youth Exchange Ambassador, where she won the JAFIE National Japanese Speech Contest for high school students in Japan at both the regional and prefectural levels with her speech on climate change. Luna was also selected to join Plan International USA's Youth Advisory Board, where she leads design for the yearly Youth Leadership Academy as well as assists Plan's climate policy strategy.
Luna has been awarded the UN Gender Just Climate Solutions Award, the United States EPA Environmental Youth Award, International Young Eco-Hero Award, and Ashoka Changemakers Award.
