Imanni Wright is a freshman at Chapman University. A Broadcast Journalism and Documentary Film major, Imanni was awarded the Chapman University journalism department scholarship and is a First Year Foundations Scholar. Imanni was selected as a 2019 Emma Bowen Fellow, which included an internship as a web producer at WDIV-Local 4 in Detroit, Michigan. With in-depth knowledge of media, Imanni has the proven ability in writing compelling stories, and reporting news.
Imanni has completed more than 400 hours of community service in addition to being a member of the varsity women’s basketball team and a part of the Black Student Alliance. She was a volunteer middle school basketball coach, hosted a radio show focused on sports and music, a television anchor, and mentor to incoming freshman. She volunteers with her church by feeding the homeless and singing Christmas carols at a local nursing home.Her love of basketball and desire to give back are the foundation for her own non-profit organization, Life and Basketball (LAB). With the goal of providing girls with free high-level basketball training and ACT test preparation, LAB will also facilitate community service projects so they can become Social Good Champions in their neighborhoods.
