My passion for teaching math has developed through the years mainly from seeing the inequities that our education system creates for students of color and underrepresented communities. This is my way of not only doing more but being more as I am one of those underrepresented students. My background taught me compassion, empathy and understanding of what my community goes through on a daily basis. By pursuing a career as a math teacher, it is my aspiration to create opportunities for students to see math as a vehicle for change and a pathway to college.
I hope to do more in order for me and my community to be more than what society expects us to be.
