Charvinia will pursue a degree in civil engineering. She has pursued many opportunities to help gain knowledge and skills in the science fields. She has participated in the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minorities Program for Math and Science and the Research Extension and Apprentice Program in Horticulture/Cancer Research at Kentucky State University. She has also worked at the Corvette Museum as a mechanical intern.  Charvinia recognized the need for civil engineers who can improve living environments through the poverty she has seen both in America and while traveling abroad. It is her intention to help create community centers in her local area and then to take those same skills abroad to help improve life styles in third world countries through Engineers Against Poverty.
