Claes Nobel and the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation (NSHSS Fdn) Presents Inaugural World Betterment Award

Honorees Included: Todd Corley, Abercrombie & Fitch; And Greg Goff, Tesoro Corporation

WASHINGTON D.C., August 26, 2013 – Claes Nobel, senior member of the esteemed Nobel family and Founder of the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation (NSHSS Fdn), presented the inaugural Claes Nobel World Betterment Award to Todd Corley, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Diversity Officer of Abercrombie & Fitch; and Greg Goff, President and CEO of Tesoro Corporation.  The Award was presented at a private reception for the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation on Friday, August 16, 2013 attended by corporate, foundation and community leaders.

The Claes Nobel World Betterment Award was established in 2013 to highlight outstanding role models for today’s millennials, recognizing individuals who are making exceptional contributions to the promotion of global unity and cultural understanding in their own particular area of influence.  Through the Award, the NSHSS Foundation seeks to inspire leadership and value for humankind among diverse young people around the world.

Claes Nobel says, “I firmly believe that the key to bettering our communities is through education and encouraging young people to reach great heights. The World Betterment Award recognizes influential individuals who are committed to building a safe and saner world.”

The 2013 Honorees were chosen based on their current involvement with the organization and their dedication and commitment to ethics, inclusion and making a positive impact throughout their professional and personal lives.

Todd Corley, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Diversity Officer of Abercrombie & Fitch was recognized for his diversity leadership and his ability to engage individuals, specifically millennials, to build strong corporate social responsibility platforms that promote societal change.  Corley joined Abercrombie & Fitch as their first-ever corporate officer in charge of diversity and inclusion.  He has been recognized by Ebony as one of their “Thirty Young Leaders Under 30,” The Network Journal as one of the “40 Under 40 Achievers,” and listed by SAVOY Magazine as one of the “Top 100 African Americans in Corporate America.”

Greg Goff, President and CEO of Tesoro Corporation, one of the largest refining and marketing companies in America with almost 7,000 employees, was recognized for successfully leading Tesoro’s significant environmental, safety and volunteerism projects, as well as his personal values of family and leadership that have impacted his approach.  At a young age, Goff learned the importance of responsibility, commitment, values, ambition and accepting challenges – qualities that have influenced the leader he is today.
