After participating in the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, Bemnet founded Girls Who Code Clubs at the University of Washington and the Technology Access Foundation. Bemnet worked with Code.org to provide her clubs’ participants with essential technical skills, and her software language instructional videos have been used to teach students in many of her school’s AP courses. Bemnet’s goal is to teach young children to code and maximize their use of technology to uplift their communities. Bemnet plans to major in human rights and web development and looks forward to giving back to her family’s home country, Ethiopia. Bemnet has interned with Ellis, Li & McKinstry Law Office and the Port of Seattle as a web developer.
