Tanya M. Odom, is an Executive Coach and Director of Innovation for the The FutureWork Institute and works with corporations in the United States and Europe in their efforts to address diversity issues and create sustainable change in organizations. Her areas of specialty include Diversity and Innovation, Race/Racism, Gender Dynamics, Disabilities, Teambuilding, Coaching, Coaching Women of Color, Diversity and Coaching, Work/Life Balance, Cross-Cultural Interviewing, and Global Diversity.
She is the co-author of “Evaluation in the Field of Education for Democracy, Human Rights and Tolerance.” Tanya writes the Diversity column for Diversity Woman magazine and is a frequent contributor to Insight into Diversity and Workshifting. Tanya was named by Diversity Best Practices as “One of the Five Diversity Thought Leaders to Follow on Twitter.”
Tanya is passionate about working with youth, and engaging youth in meaningful, relevant conversations. She has combined her diversity and youth focused work to work on projects in Northern Ireland, where she worked with Catholic and Protestant Youth, and in Israel, where she worked with Palestinian and Israeli youth on topics including bias, dialogue, community building, and youth leadership.
Tanya is the first female President of the Board of Directors of Townsend Harris High School at Queens College, and is currently serving in the role of co-Chairperson. Tanya has been very involved with the Expanded Success Initiative (ESI) in NYC that focuses on increasing the graduation rates of Black and Latino Boys. Tanya also serves on the Advisory Board of Wall Street in the Black, and is currently working on a book with Civil Rights activist Mel King.
Tanya has a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University, where she focused on Administration, Planning, and Social Policy. She received her B.A. in Anthropology/Sociology with a correlate sequence in Women’s Studies from Vassar College.
